After hours of final sorting and stuffing and weighing and organizing, we loaded up the trailor with 38 bags to check and carry-ons for each of us.
We brought down the majority of the food we will eat while we are here, along with soccer balls and t-shirts to give away and all the supplies we need for the 3 VBS's we will be doing while here.
(They started one of the VBS today-- and for the first day, 100 kids showed up!! AMAZING!!)
Anyway, we hit the road around 4:30 and arrived in Chicago around 9.
We managed to sleep a few hours on the floors of Calvary Chapel O'Hare and woke at 3 a.m. to arrive at the airport at 3:45 a.m. We all got our tickets and ALL the luggage checked without a problem-- thank You, Lord!
Our first flight was from Chicago to Miami and went smoothly. Our flight from Miami to St. Kitts was delayed an hour and a half, but they gave us to time to grab a bite to eat (and coffee!!), and relax a little.
It was a beautiful 2.5 hour flight and all went fine. Just before landing, I happened to glance outside and see a BEAUTIFUL rainbow. It was only visible long enough for me to snap a quick picture and then it was gone... but I was excited about that. :)
Jordan and I sprinted off the plane, wanting to be the first to greet Brandon and Wendi-- completely unaware of how long it would take to get through Customs. After opening and checking every last piece of luggage, we were finally able to step outside of the airport, breathe in the Caribbean air and hug our dear friends.
It is SO good to be here.
The team is doing wonderfully-- currently doing last minute prep for the vacation bible schools, which take place at three separate locations tomorrow. The next four days will be jam packed- VBS starting at 9 (meaning we leave the house at 8:30) and lasting until 12:30, lunch, and then out to the different work sites (a hospital, a home, a park, and a school).
Please pray for our team, as we will be potentially seeing 300 kids each day the remainder of the week. Also, it is HOT, as I'm sure you are all aware. We want to be a blessing here, to minister and love on the Kittitians (and the Graysons). Pray for energy and strength and unity.
I'll keep you updated as the week goes on!!
