Nora James, six months

Oh little girl of mine...
You have no idea, not an inkling of the joy you bring and add to our lives.
You are the perfect reminder that God is good and sovereign, that He has a plan and it is good.
My heart is overflowing with that reminder as I watch your sweet personality emerge. Your playfulness, smile, contentedness... simply, YOU...
You are such a gift, my Nora James.
Six months you've been here now.
A perfect addition to our family.
A perfect, tiny (11lbs 11oz) fit.
I'm so thankful to be your Mama, my beautiful brown eyed girl.
Little Nora James, you are so loved!

corners

I'd been writing a post in my brain since Saturday about how we've turned this corner...

...that there was starting to be an ease to things.
that everything wasn't seeming so hard.
Neither a miracle nor a leash are wished for during every outing.

but today?
that feels like a bunch of lies.
Mostly because I was up too late working last night
and I've far over-extended myself.
And...
I have three kiddos who think naptime is for the birds today.

Those things make me a far too impatient, far too stressed, far too not-much-fun kind of Mama.
Oh, to have balance...

All of that to say-
A few days ago, I felt like we'd turned a corner.
Jordan had a mountain bike race.
and I?
I had all three kiddos by myself AND without a stroller---
and had a blast.
They ran and jumped and practically swam  in every mud puddle they saw.
They were filthy, muddy, soaked to the bone, but oh, did they enjoy.
I don't know why I'm usually so uptight. Why is it so hard to just let my kids be kids?!
It was such a sweet time...
I need to learn to say 'yes' more often.
Even if it means a little mess, a little more effort, you know?
 Anyway...
Somedays, things DO seem easier.
Smoother.
Calmer.
And I treasure those days.
I love being Mama to these kids.
These wild, energetic, curious kids.
Such sweet gifts they are...
treasures.
Oh Lord- Help me to have a heart of gratitude always...
And now, back to work I go. Playing catch up from being computer-less! Happy Longest Day of the Year!
(and oh, does it seem long! ha!)

quick catch up

It's summertime.
You know, in case you've missed the memo.
:)
Summertime around here means:
staying up late
waking up early
(yaaaaaawn)
lots of water play

hours and hours outside
gardens!
curls
St. Kitts prep
(just over a month until we're there...)
lots of photo sessions
open windows
evening runs
family time
picking berries
trampoline jumping
splash pad!
DRIVING!!!!!
(I'm FREE!!!!!!!!)
lots of time with our youth
lots of time with our babies

So much to be thankful for.
So much we enjoy.
So much love.
:)

Overwhelmed today by the goodness of God.
Grateful. Thankful.
Amazed.

first engagement session

I try to not post much of my 'business' photography over here... this is my family blog, and I want it to stay that way- BUT- I had my first engagement session last night, and I am thrilled with how it went... and hoping for many many more in the future. I was telling the couple that I really love to photograph senior girls because they love to be photographed and are excited about getting pictures done, and I love to do families because of the emotion and love you see... A couple engaged combines these two elements, and seriously, it was one of my favorite sessions I've ever done.
This couple are friends of ours from church with a sweet, sweet love story of waiting on God's timing and peace.. a beautiful, wonderful example. I can't wait to see what God has in store for them... and I also can't wait to photograph their August 13th wedding!! Thanks, Josh and Nicole, for letting me be a part of this exciting time in your life!
